To the Graduates
For some time during these past four years you might have felt the joy of discovery and the pang of confusion, the thrill of adventure and the agony of boredom, the bliss of harmony and the irk of discord, the ecstasy of triumph and the pain of frustration.
Such is life and such is the complexity of the phenomenon called learning.
Learning is a process never detached from experience and ever interwoven with the phases of human life. It is almost synonymous with breathing, sleeping, awakening. It is as continuous as life itself.
The ends towards which one's life and learning aim are determined largely by the individual's decision and abilities.
He has therefore to make use of his capabilities to the utmost as he interacts with God's creation. As he lives and learns, he has to develop his talents and be service to his fellowmen and this come to the fulfillment of his being.
Learning in this context is self-fulfillment within the confines of his environment. As Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe puts it "Talents are best nurtured in solitude, character is best formed in the stormy billows of the world". |
